Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Nights | Rotating Weekends

  • 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
  • 11:00 PM - 11:00 AM
Compensation: $42.03 - $65.10/hour
Shift Differential: +$4/hour Nights | +$2/hour Weekends
Sign-On Bonus: $30,000

Overview
A premier women's and children's hospital in Houston is launching a brand-new Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) program and is seeking experienced Pediatric ICU Registered Nurses to join its founding clinical team.
This role focuses on the care of critically ill pediatric cardiac patients, including congenital heart disease and post-operative cardiac surgery recovery. Nurses joining this program will participate in a comprehensive 18-week specialty orientation and training program designed to prepare staff for advanced pediatric cardiovascular critical care.
This is a rare opportunity to help build a pediatric cardiac critical care program from the ground up while working alongside specialized pediatric cardiac teams within a high-acuity children's services environment.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care to critically ill pediatric cardiac and post-operative cardiac surgery patients
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust individualized patient care plans
  • Monitor and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions within a high-acuity CICU environment
  • Collaborate with pediatric intensivists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams
  • Maintain accurate documentation and support evidence-based critical care practices
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and pediatric cardiac care program development
  • Provide family-centered education and emotional support throughout the patient care continuum
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic critical care environment
Qualifications
Required
  • Active RN license
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Pediatric ICU RN experience in an acute care hospital
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • BSN required within 24 months of hire (with enrollment within 6 months)
  • BLS certification within 30 days of hire
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire
  • PALS certification within 6 months of hire
Preferred
  • Pediatric cardiac ICU or congenital heart experience
  • Pediatric post-operative cardiac surgery experience
  • Children's hospital experience
  • CCRN certification
