Job description

  • Department: Materials Management
  • Schedule: Full Time shift start times:  5am-1:30pm, 11am-7:30pm and 1pm-9:30pm
  • Hospital: Ascension Genesys
  • Location: Grand Blanc, Michigan 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Receive goods as ordered and delivered and processes packing slips into departmental computer systems.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify receipt of items against packing slip. Checks in items against purchase orders.
  • Enter inventory received into database for tracking.
  • Process returned items for shipping and schedules pick up.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot any received goods for issues/problems.
  • Monitor, order, stock and transport supplies and/or equipment for the organization. Ensures timely delivery of stock/inventory as needed. Process transfers from point of service sites for inventory and non-inventory supplies and quipment.
  • Perform PYSIX inventories, stocking, reordering. Uses par level reports to maintain warehouse inventory levels and complete purchase requests as directed. Provides support to other departments, inclluding but not limited to Biomed, Respiratory, Purchasing, and Administration teams.
  • Assist in unloading and sorting incoming supplies from commercial freight lines; counts and verifies quantity on each packing list; checks items for damage prior to signing for goods and marks exceptions as needed; initials and dates and files packing lists.
  • Notify the Ministry Service Center of any discrepancies or damaged goods; files damage claims according to procedure.
  • Receives and processes FedEx, UPS and express packages in a timely and efficient manner using electronic handhelds, while giving priority to rush items.
  • Match incoming deliveries to Purchase Orders, receives items using the appropriate electronic systems and devices; generates receiving reports from verified packing lists.
  • Deliver freight to all locations as appropriate and completes necessary delivery confirmation--may assist with put-away to augment workflow during periods of high census.
  • Deliver special purchase items to the requesting area and obtains authorized signature of the recipient for the release of such items.
  • Utilize appropriate judgement when assigning priorities to deliveries and job tasks.
  • Process the return of goods and outgoing freight according to established procedures.
  • Maintain Receiving and Dock areas in clean, safe, orderly conditions.
  • Raise awareness of dock security issues, such as: a) Ensures that valuable items (e.g, portable medical equipment and computer items not picked up by the requesting area at the end of the day) are secured in a locked area; b) Makes note of unauthorized personnel in the dock area or those who may be using the dock area for ingress/egress and report to supervisor for follow-up with appropriate department leader.
  • Separate and organize pallets that need return to primary distribution vendor and arranges for other pallets to be picked up by local approved vendor.
  • Assign tasks may include all areas of Supply Chain responsibility and may change over time.
  • Engage customers on a regular basis to ensure good service. This requires professional presence to effectively interact with clinicians, administrators, colleagues and vendors.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Other training beyond high school, e.g., certification, degree, other training, preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Prefer at least one year of experience in at least one of the following: shipping, receiving, order picking, logistics, distribution, warehousing, inventory management.
