The Linen Technician I NE is responsible for supporting linen services by counting, restocking, and distributing linens to meet hospital needs. The role ensures timely delivery, maintains accurate inventory records, and responds to customer requests with excellent service. The role adheres to HIPAA, OSHA, and DNV regulations, promotes workplace safety, and supports emergency response, contributing to operational efficiency and patient care at UPH.

Education

  • Successfully completes hospital-wide orientation, annual hospital competencies and department/unit specific competencies.
  • The associate is aware of hospital and department compliance for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.  Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of department or hospital administrative staff.
  • For the safety of our patients and co-workers, St. Luke’s Hospital requires seasonal and job related vaccinations.  This is reviewed regularly during periodic health assessments.

Customer Service

  • Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of the hospital’s commitment to ethical behavior in all areas of personal and professional activity.

Key Accountability

  • Load linen exchange carts and closets with clean linen from the laundry processor’s carts.
  • Deliver and return linen exchange carts to designated areas within the hospital, using designated safety tugger. Clean delivery delivers linen to assigned areas using a wheeled cart, filling shelves to designated par levels.
  • Separate unacceptable linens (stained, worn, torn, etc.) and return to laundry processor.
  • Deliver additional requested items as they are requested within a desirable time frame.
  • Collect soiled linen from various areas within the hospital using a wheeled cart and record the time the collection was made on the Log. Spot clean pillows, etc. as needed
  • Wash and dry specified mops and linen items in washer/dryer.
  • Report work problems, unsafe conditions, and maintenance needs to the Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
