Job description

Gain Hands-On Experience in Healthcare and Nutrition

Are you curious about nutrition, healthcare, or working in a hospital setting? Join our Nutrition Services Team and gain hands-on experience supporting patients, visitors, and hospital staff. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in nutrition, dietetics, or healthcare, and it's a great way to build valuable work experience.

Schedule:

  • Full-time: 11:30AM - 8:00PM shifts, Monday - Friday
  • Every third Saturday: 8-hour shift with one day off during the work week

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Hospital Food Service Assistant, you’ll help prepare and deliver meals to patients while ensuring dietary needs and food safety standards are met. You’ll interact with patients to provide friendly, helpful service, place trays within reach, assist with simple meal prep tasks, and collect trays after meals while documenting intake. You’ll also help keep patient and visitor dining areas clean, restock food and beverage stations, assist with food prep for meetings, and keep kitchen and service areas organized and stocked. Additional duties include checking equipment temperatures, rotating and labeling food items, and collaborating with team members to maintain a safe, efficient environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • No prior experience required, but experience with food prep, handling, storage, or delivery is a plus
  • Serve-Safe certification preferred (training can be provided)
  • Friends and Family CPR required; training can be completed after hire
  • Enthusiasm for helping patients and working with a team is essential
