Job description

VCA Contra Costa Animal Hospital is a trusted, community-centered veterinary practice located in the beautiful town of Moraga, California. As a 1.5 DVM practice supported by a dedicated team of veterinary professionals, we pride ourselves on delivering compassionate, high-quality care to pets and exceptional service to their families.
We are seeking a Hospital Manager who thrives in a collaborative environment, excels at people leadership, and is passionate about operational excellence in veterinary medicine.
The Hospital Manager works in partnership with the Medical Director and Field Leadership to oversee the hospital's business operations, client service experience, staff development, and financial performance. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, hands-on leadership, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Financial Leadership
  • Oversee daily hospital operations to ensure smooth, efficient workflow.
  • Manage financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L oversight.
  • Implement marketing and promotional strategies to support hospital growth.
People & Culture
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop hospital staff.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture.
  • Provide coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management.
Client Experience
  • Ensure exceptional customer service standards.
  • Support client communication, education, and satisfaction initiatives.
  • Maintain a welcoming, professional environment for clients and pets.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience, preferably in a medical, service, or veterinary setting.
  • Strong skills in customer service, personnel management, and financial oversight.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma required; some college education preferred

VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick days, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The annual salary range for this position is $68,640 to $85,000 This position may also be eligible for other variable pay programs.
