Position Description:
To attend to the duties assigned to the everyday running of the kitchen including, but not limited to, food preparation, receiving, storing, and retrieving product, plating and utility work. The cook reports to the Chef.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED; two (2) years' experience in food production.
  • Ability to read, interpret and write in the English language. Ability to professionally and effectively respond to inquiries, complaints, and request for information in one-on-one and small groups situations to clients, healthcare professionals and community members.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to define and clarify problems, collect all relevant input, draw valid conclusions and enact appropriate and effective solutions. Display high levels of personal and professional maturity. Ability to analyze care needs, resources and allocate responsibilities. Ability to interpret clinical and technical information and application in relationship to job responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under stressful conditions. Professional maturity and the ability to respond effectively and calmly to emotionally distressed individuals. Ability to set and maintain appropriate professional boundaries with individual residents and group members.
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Communication and relationship skills: effective levels of written, oral and listening skills, always respecting the client's confidentiality.
  • Teamwork: Functions consistently and collaboratively as part of the kitchen staff in addition to the other Hospice employees to contribute to optimal team functioning and outcomes.
  • Ethics: Demonstrates a high level of work, personal and professional ethics.
