Job description

Landscape Estimator

Blackjack Horticulture
Birmingham, AL | Full-Time | Onsite

About Us
Blackjack Horticulture builds and maintains outdoor spaces our clients are proud of — from retaining walls and patios to walkways and stonework that stand the test of time. Our mission is simple: making outdoor spaces a JOY, not a JOB. We're growing our team and looking for a detail-oriented, personable professional to help turn client visions into accurate, winning proposals.

About the Role
As our Landscape Estimator, you'll be the friendly, professional first impression for potential clients. You'll meet with new and existing clients, walk project sites, take measurements, and put together accurate bids that set the stage for great work and a great client experience from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Meet with new and existing clients to discuss project scope and goals
  • Gather measurements and site information for properties and project sites
  • Estimate materials, labor, equipment, and other costs needed to complete work
  • Perform take-offs and measurements using computer-based tools
  • Work within existing bid templates and estimating software
  • Partner with the operations team to ensure smooth handoffs from estimating to project execution
  • Routinely follow up on submitted designs and bids to keep projects moving

How You'll Be Measured

  • Close/win rate
  • Timely proposal submissions
  • Estimate accuracy
  • Timely follow-up on submitted designs and proposals

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in landscape, hardscape, or construction estimating preferred
  • Strong communication and people skills — you're often the face of the company
  • Comfortable with computer-based take-off and estimating software
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple bids and follow-ups at once

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • A supportive team and a company culture built around making outdoor spaces a joy, not a job
