Traveling Equipment Operator – Direct Heavy Machinery for Regional Utility-Scale Solar Projects


Job Overview

  • Company: Blue Horizon Energy LLC.
  • Salary/Pay Rate: $25.00 to $35.00 per hour (Based on experience plus Overtime).
  • Location: Project Sites Across the Midwest and U.S.
  • Job/Employment Type: Full Time.
  • Schedule: Full-Time Field Role (Frequent regional travel required with multi-week out-of-town stays).
  • Project Scope: Utility-Scale Solar Infrastructure (1MW to 25MW).
  • Mandatory Licences & Certifications: Valid Driver's License.


The Opportunity

You will operate high-capacity heavy machinery to drive the foundational site development of utility-scale solar infrastructures. This position provides the unique opportunity to build specialized technical skills across massive 1MW to 25MW commercial clean energy footprints. You will directly accelerate regional renewable energy development while advancing your career within a rapidly expanding industrial sector.


How You Will Make An Impact

  • Operate advanced heavy equipment including skid steers, excavators, telehandlers, pile drivers, and trenchers safely.
  • Execute precise site preparation tasks encompassing grading, civil trenching, backfilling, and land restoration.
  • Manage heavy material handling and staging logistics across active utility-scale construction zones.
  • Conduct mandatory daily machinery inspections, preventive field maintenance, and basic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Verify field production tasks align perfectly with engineering schematics, safety protocols, and strict deadlines.
  • Collaborate closely with site foremen and civil superintendents to surpass daily construction milestones.
  • Support general field operations and civil construction tasks during specialized equipment downtime.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of verified experience operating heavy machinery within industrial environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude necessary to spot equipment malfunctions and execute basic adjustments.
  • Resilient physical capacity to work efficiently outdoors in demanding, variable regional weather conditions.
  • Proven reliability and a proactive attitude toward maintaining a zero-incident safety culture.
  • Full flexibility to travel extensively for multi-week out-of-town field construction assignments.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Active Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or specialized heavy haul transport credentials.
  • Hands-on operation experience with automated pile-driving machinery or GPS-guided grading systems.
  • Completed safety credentials including OSHA 10, OSHA 30, or heavy rigging certifications.
  • Previous field experience working on utility-scale solar arrays or large civil earthmoving projects.
