Job description

Greenwich Public Schools seeks a Homework Club Advisor for Western Middle School. For grades 6-8 students, the Homework Club provides an additional level of support to help students with academic needs and homework completion, and the Advisor will facilitate the creation of a supportive and structured environment. Work will be compensated hourly based on the individual's per diem rate, for 1 hour of work 3 times weekly (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays).

Essential Responsibilities

 
  • Overseeing students during the Homework Club sessions, ensuring a focused and respectful atmosphere
  • Providing assistance and guidance to students as they work on their homework assignments
  • Helping students with organization and time management skills to ensure they complete assignments on time
  • Communicating with classroom teachers to understand students' homework requirements and expectations
  • Keeping track of students' progress, identifying any recurring challenges, and communicating with teachers and parents/guardians as needed
  • Fostering a positive and inclusive environment that encourages students to actively engage with their homework
 

Qualifications

 
  • Experience working with middle school students
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to provide academic assistance in various subjects
  • Patience and understanding of diverse learning needs
  • Preference will be given to Western Middle School staff with teacher certification, then to other Greenwich Public Schools staff with teacher certification
