Job description

Description:  PRE SCHOOL BLENDED Instructional Assistant

Job Summary:

  1. Carries out teacher's plan for instruction for individual students and/or group work.
  2. Alerts teacher to any problems or information about an individual student.
  3. Implements strategies designed and assigned by teachers to meet individual differences.
  4. Prepares materials for individual/group sessions under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  5. Works with individuals/small groups in review, reinforcement, enrichment, and/or expansion of skills and concepts presented.
  6. Supports teacher(s) with the implementation of interventions, accommodations, and modifications to support students' academic, social, and emotional success.
  7. Supervises learning groups with teacher's direction.
  8. Communicates with the teacher(s) regarding children's progress, interest levels, or problem areas.
  9. Reviews assignments with students, monitors testing and makeup work, organizes classwork and homework for the work relevant to the specific students.
  10. Interacts positively with students taking into account individual differences and student needs.
  11. Utilizes confidential and personal information concerning students for professional purposes only, and in accordance with District regulations.
  12. Assumes responsibilities outside the classroom area as related to supervision of students in the school surroundings.
  13. Assists students with self-help, personal care skills, and health needs as necessary.
  14. Assists teacher in maintaining classroom discipline and supports classroom management as directed by the teacher.
  15. Works with various forms of media, including technology, as necessary within the job area.
  16. Participates in planned training sessions or inservice meetings as requested by the principal or teacher.
  17. Performs other assigned tasks essential to the specific position as requested by the administration.

Qualifications: 
Valid Para-Professional license or Professional Educator's License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education 
Working Conditions:
Monday 8:35-11:50



Professional Learning and Collaboration hours as dictated by contract

WAGES: $18.06/hr

$1,000 annual stipend (prorated based upon start date) 

All Instructional Assistant employees are employed under the Downers Grove Educational Support Personnel (DGESP) contract.  Compensation and Benefits can be viewed beginning on page 30.
