About the Role

We are seeking a warm, energetic, organized, and experienced Lead Homeschool Teacher / Learning Guide to support four children ages 8, 7, 3, and 2 in a private homeschool setting.

This role is ideal for someone who understands the homeschool lifestyle and enjoys creating a structured, engaging, hands-on learning environment for children at different ages, learning levels, and developmental stages.

Our family primarily uses Time4Learning as our core curriculum, but we are open to incorporating other curriculum options such as Horizons, hands-on learning activities, unit studies, reading activities, field trips, life skills, creative projects, and enrichment opportunities.

We are especially interested in someone with experience as a homeschool parent, former homeschool parent, homeschool co-op teacher, tutor, nanny/educator, early childhood educator, or teacher who enjoys a flexible, family-centered learning environment.

Responsibilities

The Lead Homeschool Teacher will be responsible for creating a consistent, nurturing, and engaging homeschool rhythm for all four children.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare weekly lesson plans for multiple ages and learning levels
• Use Time4Learning as the primary curriculum while supplementing with worksheets, reading, hands-on activities, projects, and other curriculum as needed
• Support core subjects including reading, writing, math, science, social studies, and age-appropriate preschool learning
• Provide individualized support for each child based on age, personality, strengths, learning style, and developmental needs
• Help keep the older children on track with daily assignments, lessons, reading, and skill-building
• Support the younger children with play-based learning, books, songs, letters, numbers, fine motor activities, imaginative play, and age-appropriate structure
• Plan and coordinate
  weekly field trips connected to learning themes, community experiences, nature, science, art, history, practical life skills, or enrichment
• Create a balanced daily rhythm that may include academic work, outdoor time, creative activities, reading, meals/snacks, rest breaks, and hands-on learning
• Keep children engaged, safe, and on task throughout the day
• Manage different personalities and energy levels with patience, consistency, and positive guidance
• Redirect behavior calmly and respectfully while maintaining structure
• Track completed work, progress, learning goals, and areas needing extra support
• Communicate regularly with parents about lessons, progress, concerns, supplies needed, upcoming field trips, and schedule needs
• Help keep the learning area organized, clean, and prepared for the next school day
• Bring creativity, patience, flexibility, and joy into the homeschool environment

Weekly Field Trips & Activity Costs

Weekly field trips are an important part of our homeschool rhythm. The Lead Homeschool Teacher will help plan and coordinate age-appropriate field trips and learning experiences.

A Chime card will be provided for approved homeschool-related expenses, including:

• Gas for field trips and approved child-related transportation
• Field trip admission fees
• Activity costs
• Parking fees
• Approved homeschool supplies
• Approved learning materials or project supplies

The Chime card is for approved homeschool and child-related expenses only. Receipts should be saved and shared for all purchases. Personal purchases are not permitted on the card unless specifically approved in advance.

• Energetic and able to keep up with four young children
• Patient, nurturing, and confident with different ages and personalities
• Experienced with homeschooling, teaching, tutoring, nannying, or child development
• Comfortable supporting children at multiple learning levels at the same time
• Organized and able to plan ahead
• Creative and able to make learning fun, hands-on, and meaningful
• Comfortable using online curriculum and supplementing with offline learning
• Able to balance structure with flexibility
• Calm under pressure and able to redirect children with kindness and firmness
• Excited about weekly field trips, outdoor learning, and real-world experiences
• Reliable, trustworthy, punctual, and family-centered
• Comfortable communicating with parents about progress, needs, and concerns

Preferred Experience

Preferred but not required:

• Homeschooling experience as a parent, teacher, tutor, or co-op leader
• Experience with Time4Learning, Horizons, Abeka, The Good and the Beautiful, Masterbooks, or similar curriculum
• Early childhood education experience
• Elementary education experience
• Experience teaching or caring for multiple children at once
• Experience creating lesson plans or weekly learning schedules
• Experience planning field trips or enrichment activities
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, if assisting with transportation
• Ability to pass a background check

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate understands that homeschooling is not just “school at home.” We are looking for someone who can create a peaceful, structured, and engaging environment where children can learn, explore, ask questions, move their bodies, build confidence, and grow at their own pace.

This person should be comfortable moving between elementary lessons, preschool learning, toddler engagement, snack breaks, sibling dynamics, field trip prep, hands-on activities, and daily routines while maintaining a calm and positive atmosphere.

The right person will be able to bring structure without being rigid, creativity without chaos, and warmth while still helping the children stay focused and accountable.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a general schedule of Monday through Friday, approximately 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Some flexibility may be needed for weekly field trips, special activities, family schedule changes, or occasional adjustments to the homeschool day. Any schedule changes will be communicated in advance whenever possible.

Weekly field trips are part of the regular homeschool rhythm and may occasionally require slight adjustments to the daily schedule depending on location, travel time, and activity length.

The general expectation is that the Lead Homeschool Teacher is present, engaged, and prepared to lead the homeschool day during scheduled hours.

Compensation

This position pays $23–$26 per hour, based on experience, schedule, and responsibilities.

Higher consideration will be given to candidates with experience in homeschooling, multi-age teaching, curriculum planning, early childhood education, lesson preparation, and field trip coordination.

Approved field trip expenses, activity fees, gas, parking, and homeschool supply costs will be covered separately through a provided Chime card.
