Job Title: Outpatient Medication Coordinator

Location: On-Site

Position Type: Full-Time, Tuesday - Friday, 9am-6pm (with 1 hour lunchbreak from 1-2pm)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Tech or Medical Assistant to to join our team as Outpatient Medication Coordinator. This administrative role serves as an operational bridge between healthcare providers, local/specialty pharmacies, and patients.

Working under direct provider supervision, you will manage non-clinical prescription intake workflows, assist with prior authorizations, and cross-train to support front-desk reception.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prescription Coordination & Operational Support

  • Triage incoming refill requests and pharmacy communications per clinic protocol.
  • Draft routine prescription and renewal entries in the EHR for provider review and approval.
  • Compile chart documentation for Prior Authorization (PA) submissions.
  • Liaise with retail and specialty compounding pharmacies to verify order details and status.
  • Provide administrative status updates to patients regarding prescription processing timelines.

2. Reception & Patient Experience

  • Greet patients and manage check-in/check-out procedures efficiently.
  • Handle multi-line phone systems, routing clinical inquiries to appropriate care teams.
  • Schedule appointments, collect payments, and verify insurance coverage.
  • Maintain strict patient data privacy in accordance with HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1+ years in healthcare, with a background as a Pharmacy Tech or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with EHR/EMR platforms, e-prescribing queues, and general office software.
  • Competencies: Strong command of medical and pharmaceutical terminology; excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills.
