Job description

As a Captain with 41 North Offshore, you are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a tugboat and its crew during towing, docking, ship assist, and marine transportation operations. The Captain oversees all onboard activities, ensures compliance with maritime regulations, and maintains the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the vessel, including crew performance and towing operations.
  • Lead and supervise all onboard personnel, ensuring proper training, adherence to safety procedures, and effective coordination of daily tasks.
  • Maintain full compliance with USGC regulations and all company safety, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Direct routine vessel maintenance, inspections, and activities necessary to ensure the tug remains operationally ready.
  • Plan and conduct safety meetings, emergency drills, audits, and training sessions in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with port authorities, dispatchers, pilots, customers, and marine contractors to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Respond decisively to emergency situations and ensure the crew is properly trained and prepared to act.
  • Complete and maintain accurate vessel logs, reports, and all required regulatory documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
