Job description

POSITION: Legal Assistant & Court Management Specialist (Global Law Firm)

LOCATION: Miami, FL (Fully remote but must reside in Florida)

COMPENSATION: Salary up to 95k, paid overtime, bonus eligibility, comprehensive benefits, and 401(k).


Overview for Legal Assistant & Court Management Specialist (Global Law Firm):

Join a highly respected global law firm and become part of its collaborative East Coast Regional Litigation Docketing Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Assistant & Court Management Specialist with strong Florida and Federal litigation knowledge to support attorneys and litigation teams by managing court deadlines, litigation calendars, and docketing functions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while ensuring accuracy across multiple matters.


Responsibilities for Legal Assistant & Court Management Specialist:

  • Review ECF filings, court notices, scanned mail, and attorney communications to determine docketing and calendaring requirements.
  • Calculate deadlines for Florida state, federal, and appellate courts using rules-based calendaring software and applicable court rules.
  • Enter, update, and maintain litigation deadlines, hearings, and case events in ProLaw or other docket management systems.
  • Prioritize incoming docketing requests while managing multiple deadlines with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communicate with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and litigation support staff regarding case setup, docket updates, and calendaring requirements.
  • Research court rules, scheduling orders, and procedural requirements to verify and calculate litigation deadlines.
  • Respond to attorney and litigation team inquiries regarding docketed events, court deadlines, and firm docketing procedures.


Qualifications for Legal Assistant & Court Management Specialist:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of current Florida litigation experience and 7 years of current Federal litigation experience.
  • Prior experience as a Litigation Docketing Specialist, Litigation Paralegal, Litigation Legal Secretary, or Litigation Assistant within a law firm.
  • Extensive experience calculating deadlines for Florida state, federal, and appellate courts, including a thorough understanding of applicable court rules and procedures.
  • Proficiency with rules-based calendaring software such as ProLaw, CompuLaw, eDockets, or similar docket management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of CM/ECF filings, litigation procedures, court websites, docket research, and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and consistently meet critical litigation deadlines in a fast-paced law firm environment.
