Job description

Production Editor
Hybrid
Goodheart-Willcox Publisher, Experts in Career and Technical Education (CTE), and an employee-owned company, is seeking a Production Editor. As a Production Editor, you will manage the outsourced production of primary content and supplemental materials, driving projects to successful, on-time completion. We welcome candidates from any location in the U.S. to apply. Chicagoland candidates will follow a hybrid schedule, working at least twice a month in our Tinley Park, Illinois office.
Our compensation is market based and takes into account a variety of factors including the candidateโ€™s skill set, experience level, internal equity, and location. For this position, we anticipate the starting salary falling between $60,000 and $70,000 per year. In addition, the company makes a 10% contribution to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan and a 4% matching contribution to the 401(k).
What youโ€™ll do:
  • Project management of main texts and supplement materials.
  • Create schedules, communicate milestones to stakeholders, update status documents, provide weekly status updates, and take proactive steps to ensure that projects remain on schedule and release to the printer and/or Digital Production on time. Accountable for 100% on-time delivery of assigned products.
  • Run production and print supplement launch meetings.
  • Onboard new vendors to familiarize them with G-W style guides and production processes.
  • Manage vendors through frequent communication and monitor vendor performance through scorecards to ensure vendors are consistently meeting expectations.
  • Ensure projects remain within budget throughout project. Create and execute purchase orders, statements of work, and work for hire agreements, and process invoices. Provide end-of-year outsourcing cost summary and analysis.
  • Perform quality control of materials to ensure files meet company quality and accessibility standards.
  • Monitor and facilitate process documentation creation and updates. Ensure documentation is rolled out effectively to stakeholders and followed by all.
What youโ€™ll bring:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree is required.
  • Minimum of 3 yearsโ€™ production and/or project management experience required.
  • Educational Publishing experience required.
  • Prior experience working in conjunction with or directly part of a publishing production team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
