Touchstone Environmental Geology, PC is a boutique environmental consulting firm based in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, specializing in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, remedial investigations, spill response, and Brownfield Cleanup Program projects throughout New York and the surrounding region. We work on meaningful projects for a wide range of clients and maintain a high standard of technical and professional excellence.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Environmental Geologist or Environmental Scientist with 3–5 years of experience to join our team. This is a full-time position combining office-based report writing with active field work. You will be a core contributor to our project work from day one.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527-21
• Perform site reconnaissance, subsurface investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and field documentation
• Research and analyze regulatory databases, historical records, aerial photographs, and Sanborn maps
• Draft technically sound, well-written ESA reports and remedial documents under the supervision of the Principal Geologist
• Identify and clearly articulate RECs, HRECs, and BRECs with supporting rationale
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies including NYSDEC and NYC OER
• Manage field logistics and maintain accurate chain of custody and sampling documentation
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's a plus)
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in environmental consulting, including Phase I ESA report writing
• Working knowledge of ASTM E1527-21 and New York regulatory frameworks (NYSDEC, OER Brownfield Cleanup Program)
• Demonstrated ability to independently research historical property use and draw defensible REC conclusions
• Strong professional writing skills — your reports reflect your analysis, not a template
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the New York metro area and beyond
• Experience with EDR Parcel or similar database research platforms is a plus
