Job description

Environmental Geologist / Environmental Scientist

Touchstone Environmental Geology, PC — Ronkonkoma, NY

Full-Time | In Office / Field

ABOUT US

Touchstone Environmental Geology, PC is a boutique environmental consulting firm based in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, specializing in Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, remedial investigations, spill response, and Brownfield Cleanup Program projects throughout New York and the surrounding region. We work on meaningful projects for a wide range of clients and maintain a high standard of technical and professional excellence.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Environmental Geologist or Environmental Scientist with 3–5 years of experience to join our team. This is a full-time position combining office-based report writing with active field work. You will be a core contributor to our project work from day one.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527-21

• Perform site reconnaissance, subsurface investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and field documentation

• Research and analyze regulatory databases, historical records, aerial photographs, and Sanborn maps

• Draft technically sound, well-written ESA reports and remedial documents under the supervision of the Principal Geologist

• Identify and clearly articulate RECs, HRECs, and BRECs with supporting rationale

• Coordinate with regulatory agencies including NYSDEC and NYC OER

• Manage field logistics and maintain accurate chain of custody and sampling documentation

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's a plus)

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in environmental consulting, including Phase I ESA report writing

• Working knowledge of ASTM E1527-21 and New York regulatory frameworks (NYSDEC, OER Brownfield Cleanup Program)

• Demonstrated ability to independently research historical property use and draw defensible REC conclusions

• Strong professional writing skills — your reports reflect your analysis, not a template

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the New York metro area and beyond

• Experience with EDR Parcel or similar database research platforms is a plus

WHAT SETS THE RIGHT CANDIDATE APART

This role requires someone who approaches every project like a detective — someone who digs into the history of a site, thinks critically about what the data means, and takes professional pride in a well-reasoned, well-written report. If you are looking for a place where your work matters and your growth is supported, this is the right environment for you.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Competitive salary commensurate with experience

• Professional development support

• Collaborative, small-team environment with direct mentorship from the Principal Geologist

TO APPLY
