Job Description:
Performs tasks associated with coding patient encounters and working collaboratively with clinic providers and other health system departments as needed for the purpose of performing coding functions.
Qualifications:
Coding technical diploma or Associate degree in medical records technology, health information technology, or related degree or completion of a certified coding program through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or three to five years applicable coding or Health Information Management experience with a current certification required.
Registered as Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or eligibility required with certification within six months of hire into the position required.
Experience with CPT/ICD-10-CM, knowledge of insurance coding requirements, medical terminology, excellent customer service skills, and decision-making skills.
