Job description

Make a meaningful impact-- on your schedule!

AccentCare Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to support our patients, families, and care teams behind the scenes. Indirect Care Volunteers play an essential role in ensuring our hospice services run smoothly and that patients and families feel supported—even without direct patient contact.

This role is ideal for those who want to make a difference through organization, creativity, and service while working in a flexible, supportive environment.

AccentCare Hospice proudly serves patients and families in your local community, wherever they call home.

What our Indirect Care Volunteers Do:

Volunteers provide non‑patient‑facing support that helps our care teams and families focus on what matters most. Opportunities may include:

  • Assisting in the hospice office with administrative tasks
  • Organizing supplies, assembling comfort kits, or preparing mailings
  • Creating cards, crafts, memory items, or special projects for patients and families
  • Supporting bereavement services and family programs
  • Helping with outreach, events, and community engagement activities

Every task, big or small, helps us deliver compassionate, personalized care.

Other Indirect Care roles include:

  • Circle of Care Caller- Make weekly calls to patients and caregivers to check in to see how they are doing and if any supplies or medicines are needed before the weekend!
  • Bereavement Volunteers- Support our bereavement center by making calls to caregivers, family, and friends of patients that have passed at 6 and 12 month milestones (low risk for bereavement calls only).
  • Memorial Event Support- Help support our memorial event where we bring patient's loved ones together to celebrate and memorialize their lives.

You can choose the role that best fits your interests, skills, and comfort level.

Time Commitment:

  • A few hours a month to a few hours every week
  • Flexible scheduling based on your availability
  • Volunteer training is free and designed to fit your schedule

Why Volunteer for Hospice?

Gain experience for current and future life goals!

For students and early‑career professionals:

  • Gain exposure to healthcare, nonprofit work, social services, and community programs
  • Build transferable skills such as communication, organization, teamwork, and professionalism
  • Volunteer hours may count toward school, service‑learning, or scholarship requirements
  • Strengthen resumes, applications, and interviews with meaningful service experience

For stay‑at‑home parents, retirees, and career changers:

  • Give back in a flexible, purpose‑driven way
  • Stay active and connected to your community
  • Share your skills and life experience in a meaningful setting
  • Fill resume gaps or explore new career interests through volunteer service

Who can volunteer?

  • Compassionate individuals ages 13+
  • No healthcare background required
  • Great opportunity for students seeking indirect service hours
  • A caring heart and willingness to help are all you need

Even if you only have a little time to give, we would be honored to welcome you to our volunteer community. We’ll work with you to find an opportunity that aligns with your interests, skills, and goals.

We look forward to hearing from you and helping you share your gifts in ways that truly make a difference.
