Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Certified Medical Coder with strong expertise in outpatient Neurosurgery and Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of physician-service coding, ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and appropriate use of modifiers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and timely coding for outpatient Neurosurgery physician services.
- Code outpatient Evaluation & Management (E/M) services.
- Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes accurately.
- Assign appropriate CPT-4 procedure codes.
- Apply modifiers appropriately based on documentation and coding guidelines.
- Review clinical documentation to determine appropriate codes and ensure coding accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with applicable coding guidelines and payer requirements.
- Work effectively in a hybrid environment while maintaining productivity and accuracy standards.
- Minimum 2 years of outpatient Neurosurgery coding experience.
- Minimum 2 years of outpatient E/M coding experience.
- Experience coding Neurology/Neurosurgery physician services.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- ICD-10-CM
- CPT-4
- Coding modifiers
- Active certification in one of the following:
- CPC
- CCS
- RHIT
- CMC
- CCA
- EPIC experience preferred.
