MacDonald Veterinary Hospital, Inc. is seeking a part-time veterinary assistant to add to our growing team. We are a privately owned small animal practice with two veterinarians. We have been open since 1945 and an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 1955. We are seeking someone who is a team player, has good communication skills, is knowledgeable in animal handling and medical care, and is compassionate.

Job Duties:

  • Make an answer calls, schedule appointments, and take messages
  • Assist with animal intake, evaluation, monitoring, and treatment
  • Preparing and cleaning exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Restraining animals during examinations, vaccinations, and treatments
  • Updating and filing patient charts
  • Handling, preparing, and analyzing laboratory samples
  • Familiar with computers, Microsoft Office, and veterinary practice software
  • Processing financial transactions

Education Required:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

Pay Range:

  • $16.00-$18.00 /hr.
  • Pay rate dependent on experience, skill level, and education of the candidate

Hours per week:

  • 20-33

Hours Hospital Open:

  • Monday- Friday 8:00 am- 6:00 pm

Required:

  • Work requires lifting and carrying animals up to 40lbs (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting over 40lbs)
  • Walking or standing for an extensive periods of time

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of animal handling and experience in medical care
  • Associateโ€™s degree or Certificate in an animal science field -or- 1 year work experience in an animal related field
  • Prior experience with animal restraint

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 โ€“ 33 per week
