Job description

Residential Services, Inc. (RSI) is hiring a part-time Independent Living Skills Worker (IHSW) for our Westbrook Apartments program in Brookston, MN. As an IHSW, you will help people with disabilities and mental illness live their best, most independent lives. If you are compassionate, warm-hearted, and reliable with a passion for advocating for others, apply to join our team!
The Westbrook program is located in Brookston, MN about 30 miles outside of Duluth. Westbrook provides supported living settings and an apartment on a beautiful, wooded 160-acre working farm with cows, horses, a donkey, and vegetable gardens. Westbrook's unique setting and structured environment provides a diverse outdoor recreation program of hiking, biking, fishing, carpentry and crafts, agate hunting, animal tracking, and other outdoor activities.
Shifts: Wednesday: 7:30 am to 11:00 am, Thursday: 11:00 am-7:00 pm, Friday: 11:00 am-7:00 pm. 18-24 hours a week.
Salary: $20.25-$21.25 per hour

What you’ll do as an Independent Living Skills Worker:
As an IHS Worker, you will serve adults living in private home settings. You will help individuals achieve their maximum level of independence by providing skill training and supports needed to perform everyday tasks. You will work collaboratively with the person and their support team to implement supports plans that will help them achieve independence in a variety of skill areas including:
  • Physical and personal needs
  • Communication
  • Household management
  • Community living/mobility
  • Reduction/elimination of maladaptive behavior
  • Sensory/motor development
  • Socialization
  • Vocational and educational
  • Health and wellness

For this position, you will need:
  • A valid driver’s license with no restrictions and have a working vehicle
  • A two-year degree in a behavioral science or related field preferred OR
  • One year of experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
  • To pass a post-offer background check and Motor Vehicle Report check
