Reports to: Dean of Library, Tutor, College Success
This position will remain open for a minimum of seven (7) days. The College reserves the right to close the recruitment at any time after the minimum posting period once a sufficient applicant pool has been established. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A.
Olympic College is hiring a full-time Technical Services position who will perform copy cataloging, process and repair books, and manage the daily functioning of the Technical Services department. The position works under the general direction of the Dean of Library, Tutoring and College Success, and applies senior level knowledge and skills.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain the library's resource management system records pertaining to resource management, discoverability, and accessibility.
  • Perform complex copy cataloging of library materials such as completing and upgrading records which require classification, subject analysis, and extensive descriptive changes.
  • Upload, enter, and revise Machine-Readable Catalog (MARC) data for bibliographic records in Alma system according to established library standards.
  • Responsible for data maintenance and cleanup within the unified management system.
  • Apply call number labels, property stamps, and laminated book covers.
  • Direct and train library staff in processing new book and media items according to local procedures.
  • Evaluate gift materials for possible addition to collection and recommend to library faculty.
  • Plan, develop, and implement routines, workflows, and procedures and train staff accordingly.
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Repair and mend books and other print materials for all campuses.
  • Review damaged materials and recommend replacement to library faculty.
  • Coordinate withdrawal of library materials.
  • Support library staff with acquisitions and circulation functions.
  • Supervise maintenance and repair of collections

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years' experience in the technical services operations of a library. Equivalent education will substitute.
  • Knowledge of library functions, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to interact courteously with customers; direct the work of others; communicate effectively; work in a team environment; use and explain information tools and services.

Additional Information
Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
This is a full-time classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week, with a salary range of $40,716 - $52,920* annually.All classified positions will start their salary at Step A, when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Association(WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:
