Home Based Google 3D information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a home based Google 3D specialist?

To thrive as a Home-Based Google 3D Specialist, you need expertise in 3D modeling, rendering, and animation, often backed by a degree in design, computer graphics, or a related field. Proficiency with industry-standard tools like SketchUp, Blender, or Autodesk 3ds Max, as well as familiarity with Google Earth or Google Maps integrations, is typically required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective remote communication skills help you excel in collaborative, project-driven environments. These skills ensure the creation of high-quality, accurate 3D assets that meet both technical requirements and client expectations while working independently from home.

What is a home based Google 3D?

A Home Based Google 3D job typically involves working remotely to create, edit, or manage 3D models and visualizations for Google products or services, such as Google Maps or Google Earth. These roles often require skills in 3D modeling software, attention to detail, and the ability to follow project specifications. Home-based positions allow employees or contractors to work from their own location while collaborating with Google teams online. Tasks may include building virtual environments, improving map accuracy, or developing 3D assets for various Google applications.

What is the difference between Home Based Google 3D vs Home Based Google Maps Specialist?

AspectHome Based Google 3DHome Based Google Maps Specialist
Primary RoleCreating and editing 3D models for Google Earth and MapsManaging and updating business listings and map data
Required Skills3D modeling, GIS, Google Earth toolsMap editing, data verification, local business knowledge
Work EnvironmentHome-based, computer-focusedHome-based, data entry and verification
CertificationsNone specific, GIS or 3D modeling experience helpfulGoogle My Business certification beneficial

While both roles are home-based and involve working with Google Maps platforms, Home Based Google 3D focuses on creating 3D models for Google Earth, whereas Home Based Google Maps Specialist handles map data and business listings. The roles differ mainly in technical skills and daily tasks but share similar work environments and industry usage.

What are the typical collaboration methods for a home based Google 3D designer working remotely?

As a home-based Google 3D designer, you will regularly collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as product managers, engineers, and other designers, using digital communication tools like Google Meet, Slack, and shared cloud platforms. You'll likely attend virtual meetings, participate in design reviews, and share your work for feedback through collaborative platforms like Google Drive or Figma. Clear communication and proactive sharing of progress are essential, as remote work relies heavily on documentation and regular updates to keep projects aligned and on schedule.

Job description

The Bot Company
We're building a helpful robot for every home.
We're a small team of engineers, designers, and operators based in San Francisco. Our team comes from Tesla, Cruise, OpenAI, Google, Pixar, and many other great companies. In the past we've shipped to hundreds of millions of users and know what it takes to build amazing products and experiences.
Our team is deliberately lean to promote rapid decision making and do away with bureaucracy and hierarchy. Everyone is an IC and is empowered with massive scope, radical ownership, and direct responsibility. We work across the stack with a culture built for rapid iteration and fast execution.
What we look for in all candidates
All roles at The Bot Company demand extreme sharpness and the ability to move fast in high-intensity environments. Throughout the process, we expect candidates to demonstrate:
  • Exceptional mental acuity: you think quickly, learn instantly, and reason across unfamiliar domains.
  • Engineering curiosity: you naturally dig into how systems work, even outside your specialty.
  • High performance mindset: you move fast, handle ambiguity, and excel when the environment is demanding.
3D Vision Researcher / Engineer
You'll build the 3D perception systems that allow our robots to understand and navigate real-world environments. This role is for someone who can design state-of-the-art 3D vision pipelines from the ground up, combine classical geometry with modern deep learning, and turn research ideas into production-quality systems.
Requirements
  • Very strong coding skills in Python and/or C++.
  • Experience with PyTorch and CUDA, including custom operators, optimized data pipelines, or model acceleration.
  • Experience building 3D vision systems from scratch - not just using off-the-shelf libraries.
  • Strong understanding of different sensor modalities (e.g., cameras, IMUs, wheel odometry, LiDAR, etc.), including their measurement models, calibration procedures, temporal synchronization, and noise characterization.
  • Deep domain expertise in at least two of the following areas:
    • Multi-view geometry, bundle adjustment, pose graph optimization, visual-inertial odometry.
    • Dense 3D reconstruction, novel-view synthesis (NeRF, Gaussian Splatting, etc.).
    • Training depth estimation, optical flow, or feature matching networks.
What You'll Do
  • Design and build end-to-end 3D perception systems for real-world robotic environments.
  • Develop geometric vision pipelines-SLAM, reconstruction, tracking-and integrate them with learned models.
  • Implement and optimize deep learning models for depth, flow, correspondence, and 3D understanding.
  • Prototype rapidly, measure performance in realistic conditions, and iterate to production-quality solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with robotics, simulation, and platform teams to integrate 3D perception into the full stack.
  • Move quickly and independently to solve hard 3D vision and geometry problems.

Why Join
You'll work with a small, elite team on challenges that require speed, intelligence, and deep engineering instinct. If you enjoy understanding systems at all levels, move fast, and think even faster, you'll thrive here.
