OverviewCaptivate Perspectives Corporation, a Washington, DC-based professional development and workforce training organization, is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Financial Educator to support youth ages 18-24. The Financial Educator will deliver an engaging, standards-aligned financial literacy education to youth participants.
The Financial Educator will design and deliver interactive, culturally responsive financial literacy workshops and lessons that equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed financial decisions. This position plays a critical role in helping participants understand budgeting, banking, saving, investing, credit, entrepreneurship, and the foundations of building long-term wealth.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Curriculum Delivery Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging financial literacy lessons for youth participants in a workshop or
classroom-style setting.
Adapt curriculum content to meet the learning needs, cultural backgrounds, and financial experiences of
diverse youth audiences.
Incorporate interactive activities, real-world scenarios, games, and technology-based tools to reinforce
financial concepts.
Cover core financial literacy topics including budgeting, banking, saving, credit, debt management, investing,
entrepreneurship, and career earnings.
Connect financial concepts to participants' experience, including paycheck literacy, taxes, and direct deposit.
Program Support and Administration Maintain accurate attendance records and submit required documentation to program administration on time.
Monitor participant engagement and learning progress; adjust instructional strategies as needed.
Collaborate with Captivate program staff to ensure alignment between financial education and broader
program goals.
Participate in pre-program orientation, staff meetings, and required training sessions.
Assist with pre- and post-assessments to measure participant knowledge growth.
Professional Conduct and Community Engagement Model professional behavior and serve as a positive role model for youth participants.
Build trusting, respectful relationships with youth that encourage open dialogue about money and financial
futures.
Communicate effectively with program coordinators, site supervisors, and partner organizations.
Represent Captivate Perspectives Corporation with professionalism at all program sites and events.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Education, Social Work, or a closely related field
(relevant experience may substitute).
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in financial literacy instruction, youth education, workforce
development, or financial services.
Demonstrated ability to teach or present financial concepts in clear, accessible, and engaging ways for
youth audiences.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with young people from diverse
backgrounds.
Ability to work a flexible schedule aligned to program operations, including daytime hours during the
program period.
Commitment to equity, cultural responsiveness, and the transformative power of financial education.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with youth in DC public schools, summer employment programs, or community-based
organizations.
Familiarity with the MBSYEP program structure or DC youth workforce development landscape.
Certification or training in financial literacy education (e.g., AFCPE, NFEC, Jump$tart, or similar credential).
Knowledge of culturally responsive and trauma-informed teaching practices.
Experience using digital tools, financial apps, or simulation-based platforms in instruction.
