Job description

Electrical Engineer

Job Summary:

Salas O'Brien is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer or Architectural Engineer with a electrical engineering focus to join a unique, co-located design team supporting the development of a world-class, net-zero corporate headquarters for a leading technology company in Nashville, Tennessee.

This is a rare opportunity to work side by side with architects, engineers, and other design professionals in a highly collaborative environment focused on innovation, sustainability, and high-performance design. Team members will contribute to the creation of a flagship facility that sets new standards for energy efficiency, occupant wellness, and environmental stewardship.

The Electrical Engineer serves to provide technical leadership for the creation of construction drawings and specifications, existing system studies and master planning efforts. Qualified candidates will meet with clients, project teams, code officials, MEP equipment manufacturers, contractors, and others to address mechanical design requirements and develop effective working relationships. The project clientele includes higher education, commercial, health care, and industrial facilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop electrical system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs
  • Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of electrical systems for hospitality, science and technology, and commercial projects
  • Coordinate design with owner requirements, architectural design, and other specialty consultants.
  • Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings
  • Writing/editing project specifications
  • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies
  • Properly apply applicable code requirements to each project
  • Coordinating work with other disciplines
  • Providing construction administration services

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Fundamentals-in-Engineering Certification (FE) would be an asset
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is beneficial
  • 3 – 5 years of electrical design experience (required)
  • LEED or similar sustainable design certification / experience
  • Knowledge in the design of power distribution, fire alarm, data & communication, lighting, and emergency power systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of codes, standards, and design guidelines
  • Excellent work ethic and attitude
  • Experience working with a multi-discipline team
  • Good communication skills, combined with organizational skills, the ability to plan, balance and prioritize work
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and MS Office (required)

Location: Nashville, TN (on-site)

Travel: Up to 10%
