Under the general direction of the Combustion Engineering Manager, the Sr. Staff Electrical Engineer has responsibility for the design, development, and implementation of electrical components, systems, and software to operate associated hardware for engines and engine control systems for Rehlko engine platforms.
This is a hybrid role based in Kohler, WI , requiring on-site work 3 days per week. Open to relocation.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Lead role in identifying, developing, calibrating, and hardware implementation of control software for engine fuel injection and electronic control systems via model-based software platforms and tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and C++ coding.
  • Leads electrical project team, concentrating on engine control systems used for fuel injection systems, electronic governor controls and associated diagnostics.
  • Develops and executes test specifications including software verification plans, test procedures and test environments.
  • Identifies potential risks or roadblocks; seeks guidance from responsible individuals or organizations.
  • Independently performs development and testing of complex engine electrical components and systems.
  • Lead software strategy development and release from requirements to validation.
  • Identify and specify appropriate tools to test and implement designs.
  • Identify and apply state of the art technologies, executing projects utilizing these.
  • Work closely with electronic controller suppliers to implement software into final product.
  • Develop, code, analyze, review, debug and implement software for applications.
  • Develop and implement custom features using MATLAB/Simulink software or program code.
  • Lead implementation and use of Hardware in Loop (HIL) systems.
  • Provide system updates for performance tuning, improvement, balancing and usability.
  • Understand and support software modeling and simulation to develop concepts.
  • Integrate software with existing systems including testing and quality assurance.
  • Support, maintain, and document software functionality.
  • Perform functional testing along with troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Develops innovative technologies used in product development.
  • Contribute to lessons learned methodology and continuous process improvement.
  • Makes appropriate technical decisions using decision support tools and critical thinking including risk/reward ratios and critical pathing, with a focus on business needs.
  • Delivery of project work to time, cost, performance, and quality.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science/ Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on embedded system development and implementation.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in automotive, powertrain, or other commercial vehicle application software development, management and implementation.
  • Four or more years MatLab/Simulink/Stateflow experience (Modeling, simulating, and analysis). TargetLink experience a plus
  • Skills with electronic test equipment (oscilloscope, meters).
  • Direct ASCET/INCA, MotoHawk/Mototune (or similar platform) experience a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications and software requirement specifications.
  • Use of software tools such as compilers and emulators.
  • Background in engine controls and the operation and implementation of electronic drivers, sensors and components.
  • Software-in-loop/Model-in-loop validation.
  • Understanding of J1939 or similar CAN BUS communication and diagnostic standards.
  • Background in verification and validation such as RTRT, Tessy, Python, CAPL, or similar is a plus.

The Salary range for this position is $113,000.00-$143,950.00.The specific Salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
