Job description

A boutique wealth management firm based in Albany, NY is seeking a Planning Associate to join its growing team. Guided by the mission of delivering Confidence Through Clarity, the firm offers values-based, personalized financial planning that empowers clients to live life by design. With over $1 billion in assets under management and a diverse client base, the firm provides comprehensive services including retirement planning, estate and trust strategies, tax-efficient investment design, and business succession planning. Backed by a team of experienced professionals and nationally recognized leadership, the firm is known for its holistic, multigenerational approach and long-standing client relationships.
The Planning Associate will be a key member of the paraplanning team and should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to excellence. This role is responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and effective support throughout the client planning process. The hybrid schedule includes WFH on Mondays and Fridays, in the office Tuesday through Thursday.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with clients and follow up to collect relevant financial data and documentation
Develop customized personal financial plans for presentation throughout the planning process
Conduct research on key factors impacting client plans, including pension details, Social Security benefits, and healthcare expenses
Build and analyze investment portfolios using Morningstar Advisor Workstation
Use Microsoft Office Suite and financial planning software to create tailored analyses, such as estate planning flowcharts, distribution schedules, and tax assessments
Draft executive summary documents outlining clients' financial goals and strategic recommendations
Support the advisor by preparing client files and materials ahead of meetings
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (required)
FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 licenses (required)
Willing to pursue, or currently holds, a professional designation such as CFP, RICP, ChFC, CPA, or JD
NYS Insurance License (preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with financial planning tools such as Morningstar Advisor Workstation (preferred)
The firm offers a base salary target of $60,000 to $75,000 based on experience, licensure/designations and other factors. Performance-related bonus typically averages ~10%.
