Summary:
The ACL Dementia Program is a new Homage program designed to improve health outcomes of adults with/or showing symptoms of Alzheimer's disease or other related dementias and strengthen the dementia-capable home and community-based supports to effectively coordinate care and improve the quality of life of adults living with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD).
The Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator supports the growth and sustainability of Homage's Dementia-Friendly Community Initiative and Memory Cafe programs throughout Snohomish County and neighboring communities. This position is responsible for coordinating community outreach, volunteer recruitment and engagement, marketing and communications efforts, training support, and Memory Cafe operations. Working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, businesses, faith communities, healthcare providers, and community organizations, this position increases community awareness of dementia, expands Dementia-Friendly programming, and helps ensure meaningful opportunities for engagement and support for individuals living with dementia and their care partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Community Engagement, Marketing, and Communications
- Develop, create, and distribute marketing and communications materials promoting Dementia Friends initiatives, volunteer opportunities, Memory Cafes, support groups, trainings, and community education programs
- Create content for newsletters, social media, flyers, presentations, websites, volunteer recruitment campaigns, and other outreach materials
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment marketing efforts, including developing advertisements, promotional content, and outreach campaigns
- Present Dementia Friends information sessions and educational presentations to businesses, healthcare providers, faith communities, civic organizations, and community groups throughout Snohomish County and neighboring counties
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, agencies, churches, and community organizations to expand participation in Dementia Program initiatives
- Schedule and coordinate Dementia Program educational sessions with community partners and stakeholders
Volunteer Recruitment, Training, and Program Support
- Recruit, engage, and support volunteers for dementia community programs and Memory Cafes.
- Assist with Champion training for new Dementia Friends volunteers.
- Coordinate orientation and training for Memory Cafe volunteers.
- Maintain volunteer communication and provide ongoing support, resources, and recognition.
- Manage Dementia-Friendly training kits and educational materials, including organization, inventory management, updates, distribution, checkout, and return processes.
- Assist with volunteer tracking and reporting.
Memory Cafe Coordination
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating Memory Cafe programs throughout Snohomish County and neighboring communities.
- Coordinate volunteer staffing to ensure adequate coverage for Memory Cafe events and activities.
- Provide direct staff support for Memory Cafes as needed, including event setup, volunteer coordination, participant engagement, and event wrap-up.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure Memory Cafes provide welcoming, engaging, and dementia-friendly experiences for participants and caregivers.
- Assist with program evaluation, participation tracking, and reporting activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of Dementia community programs, volunteer engagement efforts, and Homage Senior Services initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, social services, public health, nonprofit management, or related field
- 2 years' experience in community outreach, volunteer coordination, communications, event planning, program coordination, or related work
- Experience presenting information to groups and building relationships with community partners
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint), social media platforms, and virtual meeting tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, and priorities
- Valid Washington State Driver's License and ability to travel in the community
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with older adults, individuals living with dementia, caregivers, or community-based aging services programs
- Experience recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers
- Experience creating marketing materials, social media content, and community outreach campaigns
- Knowledge of Snohomish County community resources and aging network services

Work environment and physical demands:
- This work is performed primarily in an office environment, using computers, printers, copiers, and other office equipment. Some work will be performed in community settings such as public events, or in the offices of partner agencies, donors, board members, etc.
- Must be able to use full range of senses as needed to perform essential functions of the position.
- When necessary, the ability to work in a semi-open office setting with frequent in-person interactions
- Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds occasionally related to equipment/supplies
- Work requires regular travel away from the office during normal business hours

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS
Employees working 25 hours or more are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, basic life, and critical illness insurance, with an increased cost share for employees scheduled for 25-29 hours/week. Employees working 20 hours or more per week receive 11 designated paid holidays plus 2 "floating holidays" per year, as well as paid vacation and sick time. Employees age 21 and older are able to enroll in our 401K plan upon hire and, after one year and at least 1000 hours worked, will be eligible for our matching program.
