Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse with a specialty in Medical-Surgical (MSDU) to join our dynamic team in a critical care step-down unit dedicated to delivering exceptional, evidence-based care to patients. This position involves working night shifts, providing care to a diverse patient population requiring specialized attention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients with a 1:5 to 1:7 patient ratio in a Medical-Surgical setting.
  • Utilize telemetry monitoring and continuous pulse-oximetry to assess patient status.
  • Conduct cardiac monitoring and respond to emergencies, including the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Administer IV therapy and manage peripheral lines, including phlebotomy duties.
  • Deliver respiratory support, including the use of nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and non-invasive airway management.
  • Follow isolation precautions and maintain adherence to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to adapt to patient needs and ensure compassionate care.
Qualifications
  • Valid NY State license as a Registered Nurse (RN) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Previous experience in a MedSurg/IMCU setting is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications are required.
  • Experience with EPIC charting system is essential.

Shift Information

The Intermediate Care unit (IMCU) is designed to provide specialized care for adult, acute care patients requiring more intensive monitoring and treatment than a general medical-surgical unit can offer. The unit encompasses 26 beds and includes patients transferring from various areas such as the Emergency Department and ICU, emphasizing a holistic and patient-centered approach.
