Job description

Position Summary
The Telemetry RN is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You will continuously monitor heart rhythms (ECG/EKGs), administer critical cardiac medications, manage complex drips, and intervene quickly during acute changes in patient conditions.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Cardiac & Telemetry Monitoring: Continuously assess and interpret cardiac rhythms, recognize arrhythmias, and report abnormalities to the medical team.
  • Patient Care: Provide direct, bedside nursing care to patients with acute cardiac issues, post-stroke complications, and those requiring cardiac-respiratory observation.
  • Medication Administration: Safely calculate, prepare, and administer cardiac and IV medications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cardiologists, neurologists, hospitalists, and support staff to ensure safe, holistic, and coordinated care.
  • Patient Education: Instruct patients and their families on heart-healthy lifestyles, medication management, and warning signs.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely electronic health records utilizing the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system.
 
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program. BSN or MSN preferred.
  • License/Certification: Valid, unencumbered RN license in the State of Virginia.
  • Life Support: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care RN experience is highly preferred. Previous telemetry, step-down, or ICU experience is ideal.
