Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) | 50% Hospice On-Call
Meadowlark Hospice is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) for a 50% on-call position.
As a Hospice RN, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and families during one of life's most important transitions. You'll provide compassionate, home-based care focused on comfort, dignity, quality of life, and supporting the whole family.
In your role as a Meadowlark Hospice RN you will:
  • Provide home-based hospice care to patients with a life expectancy of six months or less, with a focus on comfort and quality of life.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team that includes a physician, LPN, CNA, HHA, social worker, chaplain, and volunteers to carry out each patient's individualized plan of care.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, check vital signs, evaluate breathing, monitor pain and symptoms, and administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Ensure patients have timely access to necessary medical equipment, prescribed oxygen, medications, and other supplies.
  • Educate and support family members regarding the patient's prognosis, changes in the plan of care, medications, symptom management, and hospice goals.
  • Provide holistic care that supports the patient's mind, body, and spirit while engaging and supporting the entire family.
  • Respond to patient and family needs as part of the hospice on-call team, providing reassurance and clinical guidance when it matters most.
What we are looking for in a Hospice RN
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Kansas RN license that is active and in good standing.
  • At least 12 months of accumulated experience as a Registered Nurse within the last five years; or, if you have not practiced within the last five years, evidence of current clinical knowledge (within the last 12 months) as deemed appropriate by DHCS.
  • One year of hospice care experience preferred.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and comfortable providing care and support in patients' homes.
  • Strong communication and assessment skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Why Hospice Nursing?
Hospice nursing is more than providing medical care-it's about helping patients live as comfortably and fully as possible while supporting the people who love them. At Meadowlark Hospice, you'll be part of a team dedicated to compassionate, individualized care and making a difference when families need it most.
If you're an RN looking for meaningful work where your clinical skills and compassion truly matter, we'd love to hear from you.
