Job description

Looking for a foot in the door in the professional sports industry? Do you want to be a part of a fun, fast-paced, and exciting work environment? Bloomington Bison, ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers, are seeking candidates for the position of the Bison Ice Crew Member (Part-Time). We are looking for individuals that have experience playing hockey and want to work in professional sports.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Shovel snow during media timeouts and after periods on and off the ice
  • Assist in the execution of in-game promotions including, but not limited to setting up rugs and runners for anthem singers and special promotions on and off the ice, intermission activities and youth hockey games.
  • Maintain ECHL ice requirements and maintenance during gameplay
  • Assist Grossinger Motors Arena staff with removing and placing goals
  • Always deliver a high level of service to both internal and external customers
  • Always maintain professional attitude and appearance
  • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned that are a part of the game presentation.

The qualified candidate for this position should have the following:
  • MUST be a proficient ice skater, hockey experience strongly preferred. You will not be considered if you don't know how to ice skate.
  • Ability to lift at least 30 pounds at a time
  • Excellent communication skills, customer service and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and meet ECHL timing rules for pre-game, timeouts, and intermissions.
  • Knowledge of Bison game operations timing and events schedule of each game
  • Knowledge of Grossinger Motors Arena ice rink rules
  • General knowledge of ice rink maintenance and repair
  • Available evenings, weekends and/or holidays for games or events.
  • Available majority of the 36 home games for the 2025-26 season.
  • Typical shift will be from 6-9:30 PM on game nights and 3-6:30 PM
  • High energy: Ability to remain focused on goals and work independently
  • Taking part in the occasional on-ice t-shirt toss
