Job description

Store Manager

Hobby House Studios | Full-Time

About the Role

Hobby House Studios is seeking a motivated and experienced Store Manager to lead our retail operations, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and foster a creative, organized, and welcoming environment. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a passion for crafts, hobbies, and community engagement.

The Store Manager will oversee daily store operations, drive sales performance, manage inventory, support staff development, and ensure every customer enjoys a positive and memorable experience.

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour

Store Coverage Hours:

  • Sunday: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Monday: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Thursday: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Additional hours as needed for private group bookings and special events

Growth & Advancement

Following a 3-month introductory period, a customized performance growth plan will be established based on store sales and key performance indicators (KPIs). Successful performance may result in increased compensation and additional leadership opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations

  • Manage day-to-day store operations, including opening and closing procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment
  • Monitor inventory levels and stock accuracy
  • Ensure operational efficiency and compliance with company standards

Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Deliver an outstanding customer experience that drives repeat business
  • Promote products, classes, events, and services
  • Increase average transaction value and overall store revenue
  • Meet and exceed sales goals and performance targets

Customer Service

  • Lead by example in providing exceptional customer support
  • Address customer concerns professionally and promptly
  • Create an engaging and positive shopping experience

Staff Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and manage store team members as needed
  • Create work schedules and ensure proper staffing coverage
  • Provide coaching, support, and performance feedback
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team culture

Inventory & Merchandising

  • Manage inventory counts and stock replenishment
  • Create and maintain inventory labels
  • Communicate product needs and ordering requirements with the office
  • Execute attractive product displays and seasonal merchandising strategies

Groups & Events

  • Organize and promote in-store classes, groups, and events
  • Coordinate with instructors and event facilitators
  • Ensure events are executed successfully and provide an exceptional guest experience

Cash Management

  • Reconcile daily cash transactions and reports
  • Maintain accurate financial records
  • Follow secure cash-handling procedures

Marketing & Social Media

  • Collaborate with the marketing team on promotions and campaigns
  • Support social media initiatives and local community outreach
  • Help drive customer engagement and store visibility

Qualifications

  • Previous retail management experience preferred
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities
  • Experience with inventory management and cash handling
  • Ability to work independently and make sound business decisions
