Hoag Health, top-ranked health system in Orange County, CA is seeking a skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant in General Surgery to join our growing team! Hoag is recognized as Orange County's Highest-Ranked Hospital for Top-Quality Care per US News and World Report (2025-2026). We are seeking research- and mission-oriented Physician Assistants dedicated to patient care. This would be a per diem role providing inpatient coverage at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA.


Hoag is a nonprofit, regional health care delivery system in Orange County, California. Delivering world-class, comprehensive, personalized care, Hoag consists of 1,800 top physicians, 16 urgent care facilities, 11 health & wellness centers, and two award-winning hospitals. Hoag offers a comprehensive blend of health care services that includes seven institutes providing specialized services in the following areas: cancer, digestive health, heart and vascular, neurosciences, spine, women’s health, and orthopedics through Hoag’s affiliate, Hoag Orthopedic Institute, which consists of an orthopedic hospital and four ambulatory surgical centers. Hoag is the highest ranked hospital in Orange County by U.S. News & World Report and the only OC hospital ranked in the Top 10 in California, as well as a designated Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Details:

  • Schedule: Weekend coverage needed
  • Hours: 7:00am – 4:00pm
  • Location: Newport Beach, CA
  • Team: General Surgeons, HPB Surgeons, GI Physicians and other specialists within Hoag Health. Hoag also employs several General Surgery Physician Assistants 
  • Duties: Patient rounds, collaboration and communication with provider on service as well as nursing staff to perform patient care, set up follow up for patients upon discharge or post operatively

Requirements:

  • Completion  of a Physician Assistant program from an ACGME accredited program in  surgery is required
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical PA 
  • Must have or be eligible for California State Physician Assistant licensure
  • Well versed in the surgical and medical management of general surgery procedures and conditions
  • A passion for providing excellent clinical care and excellent communication      skills and interest in working in a collaborative / team-oriented environment are a must.
  • Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges at Hoag Hospital
