Hoag Health, the top-ranked health system in Orange County, CA is seeking a collaborative and mission-driven Medical Director of Kidney Transplant to join our Transplant Nephrology team based at Newport Beach, CA. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced transplant nephrologist to help build a kidney transplant p[program. Working in close partnership with transplant surgery, hepatology, hospital leadership, nursing, pharmacy, quality and other multi-disciplinary teams the Medial Director will help design the clinical operation and quality infrastructure necessary to deliver exceptional kidney transplant care.

In this position, you'll balance clinical duties with duties as a transplant nephologist with administrative leadership, supporting the growth, quality, and success of transplant nephrology services system-wide for Hoag Health.

Details:

  • Location: Primary practice location will be the Newport Beach, CA with potential time spent at Irvine, CA
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Duties: Clinical responsibilities include outpatient transplant clinic, inpatient transplant service, multi-disciplinary transplant conferences with additional clinical support provided to Hoag Hospital
  • Call: Responsibilities will generally be one out of every four to five weeks.
  • Team: You will collaborate closely with Nephrologists, Transplant Surgeons, advanced practice providers, and nurse navigators to build a comprehensive transplant nephrology practice across the health enterprise.
  • Qualities: The Ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership experience, support a patient-centered, value-based care model, and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Setting: A teaching and learning mindset, as well as an interest in home dialysis, is preferred.
  • Meetings: Participation in weekly interdisciplinary care meetings and educational conferences is supported.
  • EMR: Epic

Requirements:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from a fully accredited medical or osteopathic school of medicine
  • Residency training and completion in Internal Medicine
  • Fellowship training and completing in Nephrology
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine with sub-specialty certified in Nephrology
  • Completion of an American Society of Transplantation (AST) Nephrology fellowship Training Accreditation Program or Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education accredited transplant nephrology fellowship,
  • Board certification or eligibility in Nephrology
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a practicing Nephrologist
  • Active, unobstructed California medical license, or the ability to obtain one
  • Full prescriptive authority and an active DEA in California, or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to successfully complete Hoag Health’s credentialing process Prior transplant program leadership or pro0gram-development experience is preferred
