Position Description & Qualifications Join Serco as a Senior Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) Engineer. You will be part of an engineering team that is evaluating and managing the delivery of new amphibious ships, auxiliary ships, and landing craft to the fleet and sustaining existing fleet assets. Our team is led by a Program Manager having decades of experience working in the DoD and shipbuilding industry. This position will be located in the DMV area. This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain an Interim DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.
Our Naval Acquisition and Sustainment Operation provides critical services to nearly all U.S. Navy ships and craft and supports surface ship maintenance, modernization, and sustainment. Working in our Arlington, VA office, you will work closely with Government, maritime industry professionals, and support personnel. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors and marines. Our objective: to ensure our clients' mission objectives are achieved with the highest level of capability and assurance, and at the lowest possible cost. In this role you will: * Provide program management support to the U.S Navy's Amphibious Assault and Connectors Program's engineering team
* Keep track of high priority tasks and drive issues to resolution
* Assist customer with managing overall workload and establishing and maintaining processes
* Serve as the primary HM&E interface to the customer
* Oversee large projects for the contractor HME team and, when applicable, task the HME team with completing those projects
* Lead the contractor HME engineering team.
* Train/Task lower level engineers with HME projects.
* Become familiar will the SSC and LCAC main engine, auxiliary engine, drivetrain, and propulsion systems and provide technical recommendations.
* Interface with key stakeholders across the program to communicate
* Develop online databases, status updates, and metrics as requested.
* Provide technical and programmatic guidance for: cost and schedule; statement of work (SOW) and data requirement list (DRL) for shipbuilder/contract service provider submissions system upgrades. and
* Travel to assist and provide assessment/analysis for test events, plans and reports.
* Participate in design reviews
* Provide administrative support to brief technical issues and maintain technical baselines. To be successful in this role, you will need: * Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
* At least 5 years of relevant experience
* The ability to obtain a Secret clearance
* Strong communication and program management skills
* Ability to learn shipbuilding acquisition, design, production, test and trials, and configuration management.
* Ability to provide analytical support.
* Ability to travel up to 10% for work purposes.
