SPECIFIC SKILL SET REQUIREMENTS:
  • Designing, implementation and administration of storage infrastructure
  • Designing, implementing, and managing a Fabric switched (Brocade) environment
  • Architectural level experience with Hitachi VSP/HUS-VM/USP/AMS storage systems and their software suites
  • Architectural level experience with HP/3Par E/F/T/V/HP10K storage systems and their software suites
  • Architectural level experience with SAN/NAS technology features:

o Snapshots, Thin-provisioning, VM integration
  • Backup infrastructure design, implementation and administration including:

o Tape libraries (Quantum), Deduplication appliances
  • Managing a Symantec NetBackup 6.X/7.X environment including:

o Vault, OpsCenter, Storage Lifecycle Policies, OST
o Oracle/SQL/Exchange backups, Virtualization backups
  • Installation, configuration and support of Microsoft Clusters (2003/2008)
  • Performance analysis and tuning
  • Projects coordination, implementation and management
  • Troubleshooting storage/backup topologies
  • Programming and/or scripting proficiency
  • Experience with UNIX/Linux
  • DFS (Windows) deployment and administration
  • Experience with networking, routing, TCP/IP
  • Capable of providing 7x24 on-call support and troubleshooting

This is a Technical Consultant role with extensive knowledge of data protection and backup technologies. To be considered, candidates must demonstrate a passion for supporting and maintaining mission-critical systems and the infrastructure that hosts them, and be capable of maintaining a calm and cooperative demeanor in high-pressure situations. Candidate must also possess excellent relationship building and communication skills.
WHAT EXACTLY THIS INDIVIDUAL WILL BE WORKING ON:
  • Storage design, implementation and administration support
  • Backup design, implementation and administration support
  • Authors and maintains technical documentation, standards and procedures, and architectural diagrams
  • Creates presentations and writes business justifications to support technical recommendations

Storage and Backup design, implementation and high-level supporting of the various application teams attached to the SAN in different locations. The storage environment currently includes 3Par and Hitachi technologies. The backup environment currently includes Symantec NetBackup software suite, Symantec NetBackup Appliances, DataDomain appliances, and Quantum Scalar tape libraries. The individual will be responsible for provisioning, upgrading/patching different versions of storage related drivers and firmware, troubleshooting performance issues, backup/recovery, and automating daily activities around the storage and backup environment.
EDUCATION REQUIRED OR DESIRED:
BS or BA with an emphasis on Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
