Job description

Sr. Storage Administrator Position Summary Perform all aspects of SAN & NAS storage administration of a heterogeneous storage environment and assist in the configuration and management of such. In addition to performing day-to-day operational support; candidate will be required to work with Storage vendors and data center teams for installation/upgrade of storage arrays and SAN devices.

Storage provisioning, SAN driver installations and upgrades, performance monitoring/tuning, capacity management and general system trouble-shooting will be integral part of this job. This candidate will be responsible for managing the HDS Storage subsystems, microcode upgrades on storage arrays and FC switches and making sure that it is line with current SAN and NAS storage standards. Candidate will also be responsible for managing Storage Area Management/SRM solution on day-to-day basis, performing upgrades, troubleshooting and functionality enhancements of this environment.

Candidate will work closely with system, database and SAP administrators and different IT business teams in designing and architecting storage solutions to meet their business requirements. Candidate will also ensure all underlying SAN storage configured and are performing optimally to meet specific application and business function need. Candidate should be a solid team player and should be able to work effectively with cross functional global teams.

Good communication skills and project management experience will be required for this position. Candidate will be required to carry on-call pager on rotation or as needed basis. Requirements BS degree (or equivalent) and min 5-7 years overall experience in storage and systems administration.

Candidates should have prior extensive experience working in a large SAN & NAS production support & mission critical environment. Experience with architecting, deploying and managing SAN attached high end and midrange storage platforms like Hitachi Data Systems VSP, USPV, AMS2500 series will be needed. Good understanding and hands-on experience with Hitachi Universal Replicator, True Copy, Shadow Image, Hitachi Dynamic provisioning, Universal Volume Manager are required.

Strong hands-on experience with NAS devices particularly NetApp filers & Isilon Storage Clusters and related technologies i.e. SnapMirror, SNAPshots & SNAPvault. Hands-on experience in designing and implementing Fiber channel SAN fabrics with Brocade DCX switches and solid understanding of FC protocol in general will be required

Solid experience with volume management software and file systems i.e. Veritas Volume Manager, DMP, VxFS and other multi-pathing software across heterogeneous operating systems Strong exposure and hands on experience with IBM AIX, Solaris, Linux, Vmware and Windows operating systems.
