OVERVIEW:

Fueling Brains Education Services is introducing a new Alberta Education-approved Kindergarten program across our Academy locations in Calgary, bringing together Alberta's Kindergarten curriculum with Fueling Brains' unique approach to early learning.

As part of this exciting new program, we are currently seeking an Alberta Certified Kindergarten Teacher to join our Fueling Brains Academy Centennial campus in Calgary. This is an immediate hiring opportunity for our upcoming Kindergarten program.

This is not a traditional classroom.

Our model blendsbrain-based learning, small-group instruction, and whole-child development to create an environment where teachers can focus on what matters most -teaching, connecting, and making a meaningful impact.

If you are a certificated teacher who is passionate about early learning but seeking:

  • More balance
  • Smaller class sizes
  • And a more personalized approach to teaching

This role offers a different way to teach.

You will deliver Alberta's Kindergarten curriculum within a unique, research-informed environment focused onexecutive function development (how children learn, not just what they learn).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Instructional Delivery

  • Deliver Kindergarten programming aligned with the Alberta Education Curriculum and Program of Studies
  • Facilitate learning through a combination of structured instruction and play-based, experiential approaches
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning styles and developmental needs
  • Lead small-group instruction (typically 8-16 students), enabling deeper engagement and differentiation

2. Student Development & Assessment

  • Monitor and assess student progress through formal and informal methods
  • Develop and implement Individual Program Plans (IPPs) where required
  • Create meaningful learning documentation (e.g., learning stories, progress reports)
  • Prepare and deliver report cards and participate in parent-teacher interviews

3. Classroom Environment & Student Well-being

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development
  • Promote independence, confidence, and leadership among students

4. Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including educators, assistants, and specialists
  • Build strong relationships with families and maintain ongoing communication
  • Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development

5. Program Integration (for blended roles)

  • For full-time roles: support the broader Academy environment outside core Kindergarten hours
  • Work collaboratively across learning environments (Left Brain, Right Brain, Movement)
  • Contribute to a seamless experience for children across the day

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Valid Interim or Permanent Alberta Teaching Certificate (required)

Experience

  • Experience working with early learners (Kindergarten, preschool, or childcare settings preferred)
  • Experience with play-based, inquiry-based, or child-centered learning environments is an asset

Key Skills

  • Strong classroom management with a child-centered approach
  • Ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Collaborative mindset with a team-oriented approach
  • Passion for early childhood development and whole-child learning
  • Familiarity with early childhood pedagogies (e.g. Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or similar approaches) is considered an asset

Work Environment Requirements

  • Classroom-based role within Fueling Brains Academy locations
  • Small-group teaching model (8-16 students per class)
  • Structured Kindergarten hours (morning program), with optional extended responsibilities for full-time roles
  • Active, hands-on environment involving movement and interaction with young children

Additional Requirements

  • Police check (Vulnerable Sector) prior to employment
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to work a 10-month contract (September-June), aligned with the Kindergarten program calendar
  • Willingness to participate in onboarding and training related to Fueling Brains' instructional model

Fueling Brains Academy is an equal opportunity workplace committed to building and fostering an environment where employees feel included, valued, and heard. A strong focus on diversity and inclusion enables us to make early childhood education an enabler for wide-reaching change. We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous peoples, racialized people, people with disabilities, people from gender and sexually diverse communities, and/or people with intersectional identities.
