Position Overview

An exciting role exists for a Systems Integration Engineer, specializing in OE Automotive development within the Software Electronics Team at FOX. The Software Electronics Team creates, develops and implements new hardware, embedded software and chassis control systems for a range of FOX markets including automobiles, off‑road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, motorcycles, and future transportation models. The team works collaboratively with all PVG (Powered Vehicle Group) business groups. The candidate will be instrumental in the integration of chassis control systems, which include designing and implementing sensors, data acquisition equipment, new electrical architectures and wiring schematics. The role also will lead system bring up, trouble shooting and validation of control systems that include hardware and embedded software. To be part of this team, the candidate must be a creative, forward thinker that is dedicated to advancing control systems capabilities of FOX, a major growth vector and opportunity for the candidate. The candidate must also demonstrate a relevant and highly motivated work history.

Required Qualifications / Experience
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive or related engineering field. 3-5 years as an engineer in the automotive, or industrial mobile machine industry.
  • Hands on system integration experience
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving vehicle related issues involving electronic control units, sensors, and communication networks.
  • Experience in validating all required system inputs and outputs. Ability to understand control logic at a high level and verify that an ECU is receiving inputs and driving outputs in expected ways.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN FD, LIN, PSI5, FlexRay). Experience with CAN analysis tools such as Vector CANalyzer, Intrepid Vehicle Spy, etc.
  • Good understanding of automotive CAN Bus including network architecture, physical layer rules, encoding/decoding of raw data, limitations of the protocol, etc.
  • Experience with ECU flashing tools such as vFlash.
  • Strong technical communication skills and ability to lead issue resolution across teams.
  • Ability to establish system requirements from cross functional teams including product planning, hardware, control systems, and software.
  • Creation of detailed bring-up procedures, wiring diagrams, and installation guides. Experience documenting the overall system architecture and creating system block diagrams.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Continuous improvement mindset: Develop new or improved processes for installation and testing of integrated and distributed systems.
  • Basic programming in Python, C/C++, MATLAB, etc.
  • Basic understanding of electrical concepts and ability to interpret basic circuits. Experience with electrical test bench equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.
  • Ability to make quick adjustments to wiring harnesses. Candidate must be comfortable with basic wire-working tools.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience/familiarity with any of the following is preferred: Familiarity with Simulink and auto-code generation.
  • Familiarity with basic DSP and signal conditioning (ADC, filtering, aliasing, etc.)
  • Familiarity with real-time systems and basic embedded concepts.
  • Experience with advanced CAN network design/development, simulation and test tools such as vector CANoe.
  • General knowledge of other common protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP/IP, etc.
  • Experience with ECU calibration over XCP/CCP using tools like Vector CANape, PiSnoop, etc.
  • Experience developing scripts to automate the acquisition and validation of measurement data using Python, MATLAB, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic statistics and data analysis.
  • Experience in the domain of chassis systems.
  • Familiarity with HIL setups (dSpace, NI Labview OPAL-RT or similar).
  • Ability to architect, design and build a complete HIL bench based on system requirements is a strong plus.
  • Sensor integration and calibration (IMUs, displacement, LiDAR/Cameras, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the control of servos, BLDCs, solenoids, and other electromechanical devices and actuators.
  • Experience with GitHub or other version control and issue tracking systems.
