Job description

Construction Safety Manager (Night Shift)

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Duration: 6-8 Months (Start: Immediate Need)
Type: 1099 Contractor

Compensation & Schedule

Pay Rate: $68/hr (Local), $63/hr (Non-Local)
Per Diem: $200/Day (7 Days Per Week)
Completion Bonus: $150/month
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule: 50 Hours Per Week | Monday-Friday | 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM (Night Shift)
Additional Schedule Details: Night shift highway construction project supporting work within an active metropolitan transportation corridor. Weekend work may be required as project demands dictate.

This opportunity provides hands-on safety oversight for heavy civil construction activities associated with roadway improvements, traffic control operations, excavation activities, concrete construction, utility work, and highway infrastructure enhancements.

The Construction Safety Manager will maintain a strong field presence while working directly with craft personnel, equipment operators, subcontractors, supervision, and project leadership to identify hazards, maintain compliance, and support the safe execution of highway construction activities in a fast-paced urban environment.

Required Qualifications
  • BCSP Certification Required (CHST or Higher)
  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification
  • Minimum 2+ Years of Heavy Civil Construction Safety Experience
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Highway Construction Experience
  • Traffic Control and Work Zone Safety Experience
  • Caltrans Project Experience
  • Heavy Civil Infrastructure Construction Experience
  • Excavation and Utility Construction Safety Experience
  • ASP, CSP, or Advanced BCSP Credential
What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide daily field safety oversight for highway construction operations
  • Maintain a highly visible presence throughout active work areas
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments
  • Monitor traffic control operations, roadway work, excavation activities, and heavy equipment operations
  • Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), permits, and pre-task plans
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements
  • Identify unsafe conditions and coordinate timely corrective actions
  • Provide field coaching and reinforce safe work practices with craft personnel
  • Coordinate safety activities with project management, supervision, and subcontractors
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain required safety documentation, inspection records, and compliance reports
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the project
