Independence Plus is now hiring a full-time Patient Services Representative. This position will be based out of our Oak Brook, IL (DuPage County) office and reports to the Intake and Patient Services Manager. Full benefits available; PTO, medical, dental, vision coverage and 401(k) plan. After training, this role qualifies as a hybrid position.

Job Description Summary

The Patient Services Representative is primarily responsible for providing excellent attention and coordination for Home Medical Equipment (HME) clients, payers, and referral sources.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent patient services
  • Provides order intake via phone/fax
  • Verifies insurance, confirms orders, provides data entry for new patients
  • Completes Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN’s)
  • Completes prior approvals and authorizations
  • Contacts patients for re-orders
  • Completes repair orders
  • Maintains open communication with payers, referral sources, patients, and all administrative staff
  • Ensures that all files are maintained according to IPI policies and reports all discrepancies to immediate supervisor
  • Stays informed regarding changes in billing guidelines for all payer sources and share information with appropriate IPI personnel
  • Researches and recommends improvements in general procedures (i.e. billing, items purchased, etc.) to streamline processes and minimize unneeded expense
  • Purchasing and receiving duties, as needed
  • Promotes home nursing and respiratory / HME referrals in the healthcare community
  • Complies with agency, state, federal, and CHAP policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or industry experience
  • Experience in HME billing including insurance verification, data entry skills
  • Must exercise good working knowledge of computer applications, word processing, spreadsheet, email, and other software programs as needed for assisting in Medical Billing
  • Excellent computer skills; experience with Brightree preferred
  • Familiarity with medical coding
  • Demonstrates good communication and teamwork both within and outside the department
  • Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred
