Our Commercial Finance Group provides financing solutions across the full capital stack through life company, direct HUD/FHA lending, agency, debt fund, bank, and structured finance relationships.
Our platform allows originators to deliver best-in-class financing solutions to institutional and private real estate owners nationwide, while benefiting from a collaborative team, strong underwriting support, and deep lender relationships.
Draper and Kramer is seeking a Senior Commercial Mortgage Originator to expand our national lending platform. The successful candidate will develop new client relationships, structure complex real estate financing transactions, and grow origination volume across multiple lending platforms including life company, our direct HUD/FHA lending platform, agency, bank, bridge, and construction financing.
Ideal Candidate Profiles
Senior Mortgage Banking Originators
    • Proven origination track record
    • Established borrower relationships
    • Experience placing loans with agency, life company, bank, or debt fund lenders

Commercial Real Estate Bankers
    • Experience originating balance sheet CRE loans
    • Strong borrower relationships
    • Interest in transitioning to a brokerage/origination platform with higher income potential

Junior Producers Ready to Scale
    • Existing deal pipeline or growing professional network
    • Strong underwriting knowledge and deal structuring ability

Responsibilities
Business Development & Origination
    • Originate commercial real estate debt across multiple lending platforms including life companies, banks, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD/FHA, and bridge or construction lenders.
    • Develop and expand relationships with real estate owners, developers, private equity firms, family offices, and brokerage firms.
    • Identify new financing opportunities and cultivate long-term client relationships.
    • Generate and close new loan transactions while building a sustainable origination pipeline.
Deal Structuring & Capital Markets Execution
    • Structure sophisticated debt solutions across the capital stack.
    • Evaluate borrower needs and match transactions with the optimal capital source.
    • Lead negotiations with lenders to secure competitive financing terms.
    • Coordinate internal underwriting, due diligence, and closing processes.
    • Guide transactions from initial engagement through closing.
Platform Development
    • Expand Draper and Kramer's lending platform by developing new borrower relationships.
    • Identify emerging capital sources and lender relationships.
    • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and client meetings.
    • Contribute to the strategic growth of the Commercial Finance Group.

Collaboration & Team Leadership
    • Work closely with underwriting, closing, and servicing teams to execute transactions efficiently.
    • Mentor junior team members and analysts.
    • Contribute to recruiting and platform growth.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of commercial real estate finance experience
  • Background in mortgage banking, CRE lending, or capital markets
  • Strong knowledge of commercial real estate underwriting and loan structures
  • Ability to originate and structure complex financing transactions
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong desire to build a production business
