Job description

A leading transportation organization is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to oversee a multi-state live animal transportation operation. This leadership role is responsible for managing personnel, customer relationships, safety, compliance, and operational performance across multiple locations.


The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience in livestock or live animal transportation and a strong understanding of the unique challenges associated with animal welfare, transportation regulations, and time-sensitive logistics.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support operations staff across multiple locations.
  • Manage customer relationships and ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Monitor safety performance, DOT compliance, driver performance, and accident prevention initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Hours of Service regulations, including agricultural exemptions and applicable federal and state requirements.
  • Assist with driver recruiting, onboarding, retention, and workforce planning.
  • Address employee relations matters, performance management, and disciplinary issues as needed.
  • Monitor equipment utilization, operational efficiency, and account profitability.
  • Conduct routine audits and ensure compliance with biosecurity protocols and customer-specific requirements.
  • Some travel between operational locations to maintain consistency, compliance, and operational excellence.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of transportation management experience.
  • Experience in livestock transportation, live animal hauling, or animal agriculture operations is required.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and agricultural Hours of Service exemptions.
  • Experience managing multiple locations and leading supervisory personnel.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to support regional operations.
