Janitor / Custodian

Location: National Weather Service Office
421 Croton Road, Melbourne, FL 32935

Schedule: Monday through Saturday, 6 days per week
Work Hours: Cleaning must be performed between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

Facility Size: Approximately 4,500 square feet.

Job Description

We are seeking a dependable janitor/custodian to provide routine cleaning services at the National Weather Service office in Melbourne, Florida.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Empty trash cans and remove trash.
  • Vacuum carpeted areas.
  • Sweep and mop floors.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, countertops, and floors.
  • Clean the kitchen/break room.
  • Refill paper products and hand soap.
  • Clean and disinfect drinking fountains.
  • Dust and clean desks, tables, chairs, cabinets, baseboards, window sills, and other surfaces.
  • Clean entry doors and glass.
  • Clean showers.
  • Perform periodic detailed cleaning of walls, doors, vents, light fixtures, and high surfaces.
  • Assist with annual carpet cleaning, floor stripping/waxing, and interior/exterior window cleaning as required.
Requirements
  • Reliable and able to consistently work the required evening schedule.
  • Able to perform general commercial janitorial duties.
  • Able to safely use cleaning equipment and cleaning products.
  • Must follow site security requirements.
  • Personnel entering the facility are subject to required security/background processing.
  • Must follow special cleaning requirements for computer-room flooring and other designated areas.
