POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss Energy is seeking a skilled Commissioning Technician to support the startup and delivery of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This role is responsible for executing commissioning activities across electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient project energization.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform testing and commissioning of medium- and low-voltage electrical systems, including inverters, and power distribution equipment
  • Execute NETA-based testing (Megger (insulation resistance), VOC Testing, VLF, TTR) to validate system performance and integrity
  • Support system startup, energization, and troubleshooting of both AC and DC components on solar and BESS projects
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams to verify installation and resolve field issues
  • Coordinate with construction, and SCADA teams to ensure proper system integration and communication
  • Document commissioning activities, test results, and turnover packages in accordance with project and industry standards
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, electrical codes, and site requirements
  • Implement, control and execute energy isolation procedures (LOTO)

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Experience commissioning electrical systems in solar, BESS, or utility/industrial projects
  • Strong knowledge of electrical testing methods and equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and control logic
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and field execution experience
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
