ELECTRICAL LINEWORKER INTERNSHIP


Are you eager to gain hands-on experience in the electrical industry? We're looking for passionate individuals for a Part-Time Line worker Internship! This is an excellent opportunity to learn from skilled professionals, develop essential skills, and earn while you study.


What You'll Do:

This is an internship to attend the Electrical Line Worker program at Trident Technical College. Successful candidates will attend the program full time, Monday - Thursday each week and work with a Line Crew every Friday. During those days, you will learn the tools and materials needed for the construction and maintenance of electric lines, gain knowledge, experience and skills necessary to accept duties and responsibilities of an Apprentice Lineman I and to successfully complete and pass the Electrical Line Worker Third Class Program at Trident Technical College.

  • Participants are only paid for days worked.
  • Berkeley Electric Cooperative will provide books and tools for the duration of the program.
  • This is a 14-week program and will start in August 2025

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • High school education or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Will be enrolled and will be actively participating in the Electrical Line Worker Third Class courses at Trident Technical College.
  • A strong desire to learn and grow in the electrical trade.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Willing to gain effective working knowledge of Cooperative safety policies and procedures.

ABILITIES & SKILLS

  • Must have ability to operate power tools and other equipment.
  • Must have ability to climb poles with hooks.
  • Must have a valid South Carolina driver's license.
  • Must have ability to successfully complete the Electrical Line Worker's Third-Class courses at Trident Technical College.
  • Physical stamina and comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Outside work in various weather conditions.
  • Regular work hours with some overtime and extended workdays due to emergencies.
  • Climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting of heavy objects up to 100 pounds required.
