Job description

POSITION: Junior High Class Sponsor

Compensation: Stipend $1,000 (Paid at the End of the School Year)

Closing Date: Open Until Filled

Reports To: School Principal

Classification: Extra Duty

Terms of Employment: During the 176-Day Teacher Work Year

Evaluation: Performance on this position will be evaluated in accordance with district procedures for Extra Duty Personnel.

Supervisory Duties: Supervises students during sponsored activities and events.

JOB SUMMARY

The Junior High Class Sponsor is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and support to students in planning and organizing grade-level activities and events throughout the school year. The sponsor will promote school spirit, student engagement, positive behavior, teamwork, and communication between students, administration, and the school community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist junior high students in organizing and implementing grade-level activities
  • Facilitate regular class meetings and student communication
  • Coordinate fundraising activities and student events
  • Serve as liaison for spirit week and school activities
  • Assist with 8th grade promotion planning, decorations, and event supervision
  • Assist with dance planning, decorations, and supervision
  • Act as a liaison between students, staff, administration, and parents

General Responsibilities

  • Promote positive student involvement, leadership, and school pride
  • Supervise students during meetings, events, and activities
  • Maintain effective communication with administration, staff, students, and parents
  • Ensure activities and events follow district policies and procedures
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Administration

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and administration
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate student activities and events
  • Knowledge of school procedures and student activity expectations preferred

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check
  • May be required to work evenings and outside normal school hours for student events and activities
