Job description

Occupational Therapist Position

HFM BOCES is seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist to work in our school-based Special Education Program. Program sites include Ft. Plain, Canajoharie, Gloversville, and Mayfield. This part-time position, with the possibility of increasing to full-time, will provide evaluation, consultation, and direct therapy services to students with disabilities in a special education setting. The therapist works collaboratively with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary team members to support students' participation and success in educational activities. Responsibilities include assessing fine motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, self-care, and functional school-related skills; developing and implementing individualized intervention plans; contributing to IEP development and progress monitoring; maintaining accurate documentation; and ensuring compliance with applicable special education regulations. The Occupational Therapist promotes student independence, access to the educational environment, and achievement of educational goals through evidence-based therapeutic practices.

Applicants must be a New York State Registered Occupational Therapist.

This is a competitive Civil Service position. No actual test exam will be administered but there will be a review of credentials.

To be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on the ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
