Job description

LocationUS-California-Long BeachOverview

To lead the location in ensuring an environmentally sound, healthy, and safe workplace for every Associate.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure continued compliance with environmental and safety laws and regulations. 

  • Verify that the location's environmental standards conform to the requirements of ISO 14001 and HEXPOL's Management System. 

  • Lead Environmental, Health and Safety program initiatives to promote and enhance a safe workplace. 

  • Communicate with regulatory agencies. 

  • Conduct routine location inspections to determine the existence of hazards and take measures to correct. 

  • Provide Associate training (including new hire safety orientation and monthly Environmental, Health and Safety related topics).  

  • Plan, organize, and moderate the location's safety committee meetings.  

  • Investigate all incidents for root cause. Work with staff to implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 

  • Travel may be required, mostly local. 

  • Perform any other project/task as assigned by Management. 

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor's Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Emergency Management, or related degree, desired. Experience may be considered in lieu of education. 

  • Must be bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Five (5) years of environmental, health and safety experience for an industrial company.  

  • Two (2) years of working with EPA regulations.  

  • Working knowledge of EPA, DOT, and OSHA Regulations. 

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 

  • Strong computer/systems skills - MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook).  

  • Solid organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and manage a broad range of responsibilities.  

  • High degree of concentration, attention to detail, high energy, self-motivated and self-reliant. 

  • Ability to interact well with all personality types.  

  • Strong cooperation, collaboration, and team-building skills. 

  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
